The last few years, I exerted all of my cleaning energy going through my late husband’s accumulation at the expense of my own. I think it’s about time I take care of my own.
Yes! 2026 is the year of doing things for YOU and setting yourself up for the future. Time to do some clearing that feels more like a choice and an unburdening than the losses you’ve dealt with in recent years. Your someday is here!
Lisa, I smiled at the realization that the actual cleaning was not the hardest part; the hardest part was making decisions. The boxes, empty walls, frames, and postponed purchases all seem to point toward the same challenge of choosing what deserves a place in the next chapter of a home. What I appreciate most is that this series quietly reframes spring cleaning as something larger than tidying; it becomes an exercise in letting go, deciding what stays, and creating room for what comes next. Thank you for sharing the process honestly, including the procrastination, the progress, and the satisfaction of finally hanging those pictures after a year.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment! Yes, the mental work is more tiring than the physical sometimes, and letting go can be the hardest work we have to do.
Wow, you have been busy!! Way to keep chipping away. It’s like writing… just gotta keep putting the time and devotion in, not always easy 😆 I love the new rug so much! I’ve been putting off cleaning out my refrigerator. It’s so sticky in there😆😆
I don't yet have any framed photos of my four-month-old granddaughter. They only exist in the virtual sphere. I was hoping my son and daughter-in-law might print some off for me. I need some updated framed photos of my 16-year-old, too. He still looks like a boy in all my framed photos of him.
Get those photos printed! You’ll be so happy you did. The new pics of my family, friends, and dogs around the house are bringing me lots of smiles. 😊😊😊

Your house is much cleaner than my house even though you think you don't clean very often. I clean way less often...
It doesn’t stay clean for long with these dogs! 🤦🏻♀️
