Hope you are all having the best Mother’s Day possible, whatever your situation. Today seemed like a good time to dust this off and share it.
This essay is based on a prompt from Abigail Thomas that rolled around in my head for years, until the right situation presented itself. Then I wrote it in one sitting. So, it took years, then about 30 minutes.
The prompt: Write two pages, the second sentence of which is “It’s not funny.”
