This someday has been a long time coming. Let’s write in community!
I’ve been wanting to teach creative writing workshops/classes again since I stopped in 2020, but the timing wasn’t right until now. Someday is finally here!
Introducing: The Someday Salon
I want to be as inclusive as possible, so these will be salons (on Zoom), rather than workshops or classes. A workshop involves sharing work with a group and receiving feedback, which might feel intimidating. In a class, I’d be giving more thorough instruction and critique, so when I do teach classes, they’ll be a bit longer and cost a bit more. Salons are known for sharing ideas, experience, knowledge, and writing in community—and this is what I most want to do with you!
Each Zoom session will begin with an introduction of a theme with examples. (Upcoming topics will include Hermit Crab Essays, Holiday Writing, Point of View, Sensory Details, and Prompt-a-Palooza!). I’ll briefly share how people might write something using our theme or examples as a guide, then we’ll have time to get some writing started. We’ll reconvene for discussion of how it went, to answer questions, and if anyone would like to share something, I’ll leave space for that too. If not, I’ll be prepared with a next step or example. After each session, participants will receive a list of curated resources and recommendations for further reading and writing on this theme. *If you are a paid subscriber and cannot attend live, you’ll still be able to access the resources afterwards via a paid-only post.
These salons are appropriate for beginners, as well as experienced, published writers. I know my subscribers run the gamut here! Even if you don’t consider yourself a writer and you’ve never attended something like this, I’d encourage you to give it a try. All you need is a pen and paper. We’re going to be writing in community. You are welcome to attend quietly; there is no obligation to share or participate in discussion, and I promise not to call on you without warning! Conversely, if you are a seasoned writer and would like to add your expertise, or share a resource or contact information, I welcome that too. Or just feel free to write along with us.
Paid subscribers will receive invitations to The Someday Salon Zoom sessions automatically. There’s nothing else you need to do to register. If you’d prefer be excluded, please let me know.
Free subscribers are encouraged to upgrade now and take advantage of my 60% Off Summer Sale. You’d also get access to my archive, including paywalled posts, which contain my more personal writing and curated recommended reading lists from each salon.
Upgrade for one month for just $5.00 to try it.
If this is a hardship for you, and you really want to attend The Someday Salon, please email or message me and we will figure something out.
I’d love for everyone to have a chance to write with us. Please let me know if you have questions and I hope to see you on my screen soon!
xoxo,
Lisa
